The Flume Trail is a historic Black Hills hiking trail that traces the original Rockerville Flume built during the 1880s gold mining boom. Following the route that once carried water from Spring Creek to gold mining operations near Rockerville, this trail offers a true walk back in time. Hikers will encounter historic artifacts and preserved sections of the flume along the way. The trail can be difficult to follow in places, so carrying a map, compass, or GPS is recommended. The Flume Trail system includes the 12-mile main trail, Loop A (2.7 miles), Loop B (3.8 miles), and the Boulder Hill Overlook spur (0.9 mile). For a point-to-point hike, park at Coon Hollow and start at the Calumet Trailhead near Sheridan Lake. For a shorter option, Loop A from Spring Creek Trailhead is an excellent alternative.

Lovely shade, easy creek access for the kids. Parking fills fast by 10am.

Rock in sections; bring poles. Worth it for the canyon views.
