The Blackberry Trail is a mostly dirt trail connecting Mount Rushmore National Memorial to the Centennial Trail in the Black Elk Wilderness of the Black Hills. This moderately strenuous route is popular with hikers, equestrians, and wildlife watchers, offering a quiet backcountry experience near a major landmark.
The trail features small water crossings, a wooden bridge, horse tie-up stations, and picnic tables. Dogs are allowed on the trail but not within the Mount Rushmore monument. Hikers can do an out-and-back from Mount Rushmore or start at Horsethief Lake, using the Centennial Trail to create an approximately 8.5-mile hike.

Lovely shade, easy creek access for the kids. Parking fills fast by 10am.

Rock in sections; bring poles. Worth it for the canyon views.
