Experience
The Little Devils Tower Trail in Custer State Park is a rewarding hike that begins with an easy, gradual climb before steadily gaining elevation through an old burn area. As you near the summit, the trail becomes more rugged with uneven footing and exposed granite rock, requiring careful footing and basic hiking experience. Taking your time makes this section manageable and well worth the effort. From the top, hikers are treated to excellent views of the Needles, Black Elk Peak, and surrounding Black Hills landscape. Plan for about three hours round trip, as you’ll want plenty of time to relax, explore, and enjoy the views from the summit.

Lovely shade, easy creek access for the kids. Parking fills fast by 10am.

Rock in sections; bring poles. Worth it for the canyon views.
