Experience
Old Baldy Trail is a moderate, longer hike that winds through a beautiful mix of aspen, birch, and pine forest on its way to the summit of Old Baldy Mountain. The majority of the route follows rolling single-track terrain, steadily climbing through changing forest landscapes before reaching the top, where hikers are rewarded with scenic views of the surrounding hills. This trail is especially popular in the fall, when the aspen leaves turn vibrant shades of gold and create one of the most colorful hiking experiences in the region.
About halfway along the route, hikers will notice signage for Baldy Lake. However, depending on the season and recent moisture levels, the “lake” may be little more than a small puddle, so expectations should be adjusted accordingly. Old Baldy Trail is ideal for those looking for a moderately challenging forest hike with rewarding summit views and exceptional fall foliage.

Lovely shade, easy creek access for the kids. Parking fills fast by 10am.

Rock in sections; bring poles. Worth it for the canyon views.
