Big Hill Outer Loop is the longest loop in the Big Hill Trail System, circling the outer edge of the network by combining sections of several interconnected trails. This scenic route offers beautiful views of Spearfish Canyon along with peaceful stretches beside babbling brooks. With varied terrain and classic Black Hills scenery, the Outer Loop is a great option for hikers seeking a longer outing. In winter, most of the Big Hill area is groomed for cross-country skiing and maintained by the Black Hills Nordic Ski Club. For current grooming and trail conditions, visit the Black Hills Nordic Ski Club website.

Lovely shade, easy creek access for the kids. Parking fills fast by 10am.

Rock in sections; bring poles. Worth it for the canyon views.
