Experience
The Grace Coolidge Trail in Custer State Park is an easy, scenic hike named in honor of First Lady Grace Coolidge, wife of President Calvin Coolidge. This family-friendly trail follows Grace Coolidge Creek, a popular spot for fly fishing, and offers a peaceful creekside experience. Hikers will cross the creek more than 20 times, but wooden planks are placed at each crossing to make it manageable for most ages, as long as you have good balance. With gentle terrain, flowing water, and shaded forest surroundings, this trail is a great option for a relaxed hike in the Black Hills.

Lovely shade, easy creek access for the kids. Parking fills fast by 10am.

Rock in sections; bring poles. Worth it for the canyon views.
