What is your best hiking memory?

My first hike in the Black Hills, June 2014, Spring Creek Loop Flume Trail. Westhills Village Community Life Director, Erin Smith started a monthly hiking program for the residents and employees and their families. There were four of us, it started to rain as we started the hike. Two of our companions decided to go eat pancakes instead of getting wet. Erin and I went ahead with the hike. I thought she knew the trail and she thought I did. We had a map, but it fell apart in the rain. It was still a great hike and I was hooked on hiking. We have been hiking at least once a month since, sometimes more than once.

What is in your backpack?

Two water bottles and a small first aid kit.

Who is your favorite hiking buddy?

Ashok Kumar and the Smith Family.
