Big Hill Loop D is a scenic loop within the Big Hill Trail System that follows an old Forest Service road through forests of ponderosa pine with small stands of aspen and birch. A short spur trail branches off the main route, offering excellent views overlooking Spearfish Canyon. With gentle grades and wide paths, this trail is well suited for hiking, snowshoeing, and winter recreation. During the winter months, most of the Big Hill area is groomed for cross-country skiing and maintained by the Black Hills Nordic Ski Club. For current trail conditions and grooming updates, visit the Black Hills Nordic Ski Club website.

Lovely shade, easy creek access for the kids. Parking fills fast by 10am.

Rock in sections; bring poles. Worth it for the canyon views.
